Turtle Friendly Lighting | Justice Design Group is pleased to announce that a large selection of our domestically made Ceramic Wall sconce and Flush Mount fixtures have been reviewed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and have been approved for wildlife lighting applications.
"[These] fixtures meet or exceeded all three criteria for Wildlife Lighting, when installed with a FWC approved lamp. The fixtures are downward directed with appropriate shielding to prevent light from being directly or indirectly visible from the beach. These fixtures are recommended for use in areas where artificial lighting is needed adjacent to ecologically sensitive areas, sea turtle nesting beaches, migratory corridors, and Dark Sky Friendly communities. Per the FWC sea turtle lighting guidelines, we will state these fixtures must be installed with FWC certified lamps.
Per the FWC sea turtle lighting guidelines, we will state wall mounts must be downward directed with a maximum mounting height of 8 feet from the floor. These are not recommended for use above the first habitable floor when located on the shore perpendicular or beachside of a structure. As ceiling mounts, these fixtures are allowed on the ground floor only, unless on the landward side of a structure. Additional shielding may be required if directly or indirectly visible from the beach."
The above-mentioned regulations are in accordance with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Regulations can vary from state to state, so please check with local municipality guidelines for your specific project.
